How to download and use Etsy SVG files
- Find your downloads Etsy.com (not the app) → Account → Purchases and Reviews → Download Files. The app historically can’t download digital purchases.
- Unzip first Cutting software can’t read ZIPs. Extract on desktop with a double-click; on iPad, use the Files app’s tap-to-extract.

The four most common purchased-file problems
- “I only got a ZIP” – that IS the product; extract it to find SVG/PNG/DXF/EPS inside
- Won’t upload to Design Space – usually re-downloading fixes truncation; otherwise clean it with our optimizer
- Imports as one merged shape – use the SVG (not PNG/DXF) version; if the SVG itself is flat, ungroup or ask the seller for the layered file
- Cuts with jagged edges – you may have uploaded the PNG; the SVG version cuts smooth vector paths
Reading Etsy SVG licenses without a law degree
Most listings sell one of three tiers: personal use (your own projects, gifts – no selling), small-batch commercial (sell finished physical items, typically capped at 100–500 units), and extended/POD (print-on-demand platforms allowed). Two near-universal rules: you can never resell or share the digital file itself, and credit requirements vary by shop. When a listing is vague, message the seller before building a product line on their design – screenshots of their answer are your receipt.

Where are my Etsy SVG downloads?
On Etsy.com in a browser: Account → Purchases and Reviews → Download Files button next to the order. The mobile app doesn’t handle digital downloads – use the browser.
Can I use a purchased SVG on items I sell?
Only if the listing’s license allows commercial use – many do, often with quantity caps. Personal-use files can’t go on products you sell, full stop.
The seller’s file won’t open – can I fix it myself?
Often yes: re-download first (truncated downloads are common), then validate in our free editor. If it renders there, Optimize usually makes it upload-ready. If it doesn’t render, request a replacement.
Why does my purchased file look different from the listing photo?
Listing photos are mockups on products. The file is the flat design – your software shows it un-styled. Compare against the listing’s “what you receive” section, not the hero mockup.
