Use 2× for retina screens, 4×–8× for print and large formats. Transparency is preserved by default.

True resolution control

Because SVG is vector, you choose the output size – export the same file at 1× for email and 8× for a poster, both perfectly sharp.

Transparency preserved

PNG supports full alpha transparency, so logos and icons keep their transparent backgrounds – or toggle a white background when you need one.

Renders like a browser

The converter uses your browser’s own SVG engine, so gradients, masks, and text render exactly as they appear on screen.

How to convert SVG to PNG

  1. Drop in the SVG The tool reads its natural size from the width/height or viewBox automatically.
  2. Pick a scale 1× = natural size, 2× = retina, 4×–8× = print quality. The output dimensions are shown live.
  3. Choose the background Keep transparency (default) or uncheck it for a flat white background.

When you actually need a PNG instead of SVG

SVG is the better format on the modern web, but plenty of destinations still demand pixels: social media uploads, marketplace listings, Microsoft Office documents, email clients, app store assets, and print-on-demand platforms. PNG is the lossless, transparency-capable raster format they all accept.

The trick is exporting at the right resolution. A PNG exported at exactly the display size looks soft on high-DPI screens – always export at 2× for screens, and 300 DPI-equivalent (usually 4×–8×) for anything printed.

What resolution should I choose?

  • – quick previews, low-stakes email attachments
  • – websites, retina displays, social media posts
  • – presentation slides, marketplace product images, small print
  • – posters, banners, t-shirt printing, any large-format output

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert SVG to PNG without losing quality?

Export at a higher scale than you need – 2× for screens, 4×+ for print. Since SVG is vector, the converter re-renders it sharply at any size rather than stretching pixels.

Does the PNG keep my SVG’s transparent background?

Yes, by default. PNG supports full alpha transparency. Untick “Transparent background” if you want flat white instead.

Why does my SVG export at a strange size?

The natural size comes from the SVG’s width/height or viewBox attributes. Use the scale buttons to multiply it – or resize the SVG itself with our SVG resizer.

My SVG uses a custom font – will it render?

Fonts must be available to the browser. If text renders wrong, convert the text to outlines in your design tool first, then export here.

Is there a batch converter?

This tool converts one file at a time. For batch icon exports, our Studio has a batch exporter for its entire catalog.
