When you actually need a PNG instead of SVG

SVG is the better format on the modern web, but plenty of destinations still demand pixels: social media uploads, marketplace listings, Microsoft Office documents, email clients, app store assets, and print-on-demand platforms. The trick is exporting at the right resolution. A PNG exported at exactly the display size looks soft on high-DPI screens – always export at 2× for screens, and 300 DPI-equivalent (usually 4×–8×) for anything printed.

Export at a higher scale than you need – 2× for screens, 4×+ for print. Since SVG is vector, the converter re-renders it sharply at any size rather than stretching pixels.

Does the PNG keep my SVG’s transparent background?

Why does my SVG export at a strange size?
