JPG doesn’t support transparency – transparent areas are rendered on white. Need transparency? Use SVG to PNG instead.
Universal compatibility
JPG is accepted literally everywhere – legacy CMSs, government forms, marketplaces, and photo printers that reject both SVG and PNG.
Quality-tuned encoding
Exports at 92% quality: visually indistinguishable from lossless for graphics, at a fraction of the size.
Any output resolution
Scale 1× to 8× – the vector source re-renders sharply at every size instead of upscaling pixels.

JPG vs PNG as an SVG export target
Choose JPG when the destination demands it or when the image is photographic and size matters. Choose PNG when you need transparency or when the graphic has flat colors and sharp edges – JPG compression visibly ghosts around hard edges, which is exactly what logos and icons are made of.
In practice: logos, icons, diagrams → PNG. Complex illustrations going to photo-centric platforms → JPG. Web performance work → WebP. Full comparison in our SVG vs JPG guide.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Why does my transparent SVG get a white background?
JPG fundamentally doesn’t support transparency, so transparent pixels must be composited onto a color – white, here. For transparency, export PNG or WebP instead.
Will JPG compression blur my logo?
At the 92% quality this tool uses, artifacts are minimal – but flat-color graphics are still better served by PNG, which is lossless. JPG shines for gradient-heavy or photographic SVGs.
What resolution should I export for printing?
Work out the print size at 300 DPI: a 10cm-wide print needs about 1200px. Choose a scale that gets your output width there or beyond.
