The scannability rules that survive restyling
QR codes tolerate a surprising amount of styling – colored modules, rounded dots, embedded logos – because of built-in error correction. But three rules are load-bearing: contrast (dark modules on light background, never inverted for picky scanners), the quiet zone (4+ modules of empty margin), and error-correction headroom (use level H if you overlay a logo, and cover under ~20% of the code).
Vector format helps here too: when every module is a crisp path instead of anti-aliased pixels, scanners read the code at smaller printed sizes and lower lighting than a JPG ever allows.
