B&W mode is pre-selected – it removes paper texture and shadows, keeping only the ink stroke.
Transparent by default
B&W tracing keeps the ink and discards the paper, so your signature drops onto contracts, PDFs, and designs without a white box around it.
Privacy that actually matters
A signature is sensitive data. This tool never transmits your image – the entire conversion happens locally in your browser tab.
Infinitely reusable
One good trace serves forever: shrink it for email signatures, scale it up for certificates and watermarks, recolor it to match any document style.
STEP BY STEP
How to vectorize your signature
- Capture it well Sign with a medium or bold pen on plain white paper. Photograph straight-on in bright, even light – or scan at 300 DPI.
- Crop to the signature Trim the photo so only the signature and a little margin remain. Less background = cleaner trace.
- Drop it in the converter B&W mode is already selected. If thin strokes break up, raise the detail level; if specks appear, lower it.
- Download the SVG You now have a transparent, scalable signature. To recolor it (e.g. blue ink), open it in our free Studio.
Where a vector signature beats an image
- Document signing: place it in Word, Google Docs, or PDF editors without a white background patch
- Email signatures: tiny file size, crisp on retina displays
- Artist watermarks: scale and recolor the same file across portfolio images
- Branding: signature-style logos for photographers, authors, and creators
- Engraving & cutting: vector paths drive laser engravers and vinyl cutters directly
A quick word on security
Treat a digital signature file like the real thing: store it somewhere safe and only embed it in documents you control. Because this converter runs fully client-side, the riskiest step – sending your signature to an unknown server – never happens here.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do I get a transparent background on my signature?
That’s automatic: in B&W mode the white paper simply isn’t traced, so the SVG background is transparent wherever there’s no ink.
My pen strokes look broken in the trace – fix?
Raise the detail level, or re-capture with a bolder pen. Very thin ballpoint lines at low resolution can drop below the tracing threshold.
Can I change the ink color afterwards?
Yes – open the SVG in our free Studio (or any vector editor) and set the fill to any color, like classic blue ink.
Is it safe to convert my signature online?
Here, yes: the image is processed by JavaScript in your own browser and never uploaded. Avoid converters that upload signatures to servers.
