How to convert a sketch to SVG

Ink or darken your lines Go over final lines in ink if possible. Tracing rewards strong contrast between line and paper.
Capture flat and bright Scan at 300 DPI, or photograph straight-on in daylight. Avoid shadows across the page.
Trace in B&W mode Drop the image above. Adjust detail until line weight looks right – higher detail preserves sketchy texture, lower smooths it.

Getting faithful linework from the tracer
